Port of Oakland Truckers Association Strike in California

The Port of Oakland Truckers Association (POTA) has voted unanimously to call a work stoppage on Wednesday, November 27th. The one-day strike will likely increase the delays due to the Thanksgiving holiday and cause an additional backlog.

The strike was called as a response to an impasse created by new regulations requiring truckers to acquire trucks built in 2007 or later by January 1st in order to continue working at the port. POTA met with the California Air Resources Board, Mayor Jean Quan and the Port of Oakland Executive Director, seeking an extension of the deadline and requested grant funding to offset the financial burden. But a resolution has not yet been reached.

We are closely monitoring the situation and will be updating any clients whose shipments are directly affected. If you have any questions, please contact your move manager, who can provide you with the latest available information.
