An Industry & Informational Update

Ten thousand government employees in Chile are on a 48-hour labor and office strike, effective Wednesday, Nov. 13. This includes custom officers at the ports, who will be unavailable to conduct inspections. This will result in delays and increased operation costs due to storage and penalties. 

Public sector employees have demanded an eight-percent pay rise for next year.  The strike was called after the Chilean government suspended a meeting to resume negotiation talks on pay increases.
