ILA and USMX Agree on 6-Year Contract

Friday night, the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) and United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) reached a tentative agreement on a six-year master contract. The Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service has said that "the deal is subject to ratification and the ongoing negotiation of local pacts." The current agreement would cover 14 U.S. ports from Maine to Texas and all ports will remain open during the follow-through process.

The master contract now goes to the union's 14,500 members for approval. Supplemental local agreements for each port may still impede the approval process, but is considered a minor issue by comparison.

We are pleased with the progress of the situation and will continue to provide the latest information as we receive it. Please contact your move manager if you have any questions.
