Effective November 1st:

3% VAT will Added to all Household Goods Services Rendered in China

We have been informed by our UniGroup Worldwide Shenzhen office there will be a 3% value added tax (VAT) charge for all household goods transportation services rendered in China beginning November 1, 2012.

The announcement was made by the local Chinese government and confirmed by the local tax bureau, and will apply to all industries providing "modern services," including transport and relocation services.

This new tax rate, at 3%, will be applied to all services conducted in Shenzhen after November 1, 2012. To clarify, this VAT will be charged only on the services rendered in China. The VAT charge would be listed on our invoices as a separate line item.
