COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Claremont Heritage is currently working to update our local historic register with structures built in the 1940's, 50's and 60's.  There may be City funds available to help facilitate this important project.
The City is currently working on the next two year budget and your input could make all the difference!  Let the City know that preserving our Heritage is important to you and that funding for this effort will benefit Claremont for years to come.

Claremont residents who wish to add their input on the city's 2014-2016 budget still have time. The city will host the final budget workshop at Blaisdell Community Center (400 S. College Ave.) tonight, Monday Feb. 10th, at 6:30 pm.  Those unable to attend the meeting may participate through the interactive survey on the city's website at:

Causes to get behind!

Claremont is a unique city
in that the citizens have always rallied around concepts of maintaining its special qualities.  Whether it be preserving our trees or the adaptive reuse of buildings that have historic merit,
Claremont strives to preserve the past for the future.

With the economy bouncing back many projects that have been on hold have resurfaced.  There are a number of important items currently being addressed by various City Commissions.
Changes to the Municipal Code and Tree Ordinance are being reviewed.  A Master Plan for the Route 66, Foothill Blvd running through Claremont is being assessed with public input.  The Housing Element is being looked at in terms of low to mid income housing.  A number of major Housing Developments are currently being moved through the planning department and Architectural Commission.   Several of the Claremont Colleges are proposing Master Plans or significant expansion that could threaten the fragile balance between Town & Gown.  At times it feels overwhelming.  We need your help to address the issues at hand and to be a vehicle for change.

Claremont Heritage is just one voice in the community that will weigh in on these and other issues.  We believe in due process and our right to fight for what we believe in.  We seek to collaborate with like-minded individuals and organizations to make a difference in our community.
Please consider joining us as we work together to keep Claremont the special community it is!
