Why is Ag Literacy Important?
1. Aha! Moments

Students and consumers sometimes have misconceptions about where their food comes from. Here is a story from a 4th grade teacher in Georgia:

We were studying the colonies and talking about farming. One of my students raised her hand and said, "Isn't food that grows on a farm nasty?" I asked what she was talking about. I will never forget her response - "Well, it grows in all that dirt!" I asked where her food came from and she said Wal-Mart and Publix. I was amazed that she thought that especially since we are in a relatively rural area. That was the moment I decided to incorporate agriculture into my classroom and MANY students have had AHA moments since that time.

Teachers need resources that they can rely on to be accurate and up to standards to use in their classrooms. Support Ag Literacy! Make #MoreAhas
