Three Important Deadlines Approaching:

#1. AQHA stallion breeding reports and AQHA Incentive Fund stallion nomination forms must be submitted by November 30, 2014.

Two important deadlines are fast approaching for stallion owners: American Quarter Horse Association stallion breeding reports and AQHA Incentive Fund stallion nomination forms must be postmarked on or before November 30, 2014.

According to the AQHA Official Handbook of Rules and Regulations, the owner, authorized agent or lessee of every American Quarter Horse stallion must file a written report - known as the stallion breeding report - that shows the names, registration numbers and dates of breeding exposure for all registered mares during the year.

#1. 2015 AQHA Level 1 Championships Qualification Period

Be sure to know the qualifications - visit www.aqha.com/novicequalifying for details.

Please note, Level 1 eligibility is based on a calendar year, meaning January 1 to December 31; the AQHA Level 1 Championships qualifying period is July 1 to June 30 of the following year. Level 1-eligible exhibitors who nationally qualify before December 31, then graduate out of Level 1 on January 1 would still earn an invitation to the appropriate year's Level 1 Championships for which they qualified.

#2. Leveling Eligibility
Remember, it is the show secretary's responsibility to verify exhibitor eligibility. When an exhibitor and horse enter Rookie, Level 1 or Level 2 in any division, the exhibitor needs to supply a copy of their leveling eligibility to the secretary. Level eligibility can be verified at www.aqha.com/findyourlevel.

If exhibitors do not provide their eligibility, help us educate our exhibitors and encourage them go to www.aqha.com/findyourlevel to check and print their proof of eligibility. Beginning January 2016, if an exhibitor does not provide their proof of eligibility, they will be allowed to only enter Level 3.

AQHA Rule SHW130. Show Secretary: must accurately maintain and record both entries and show results, including verifying exhibitor eligibility, current membership and horse eligibility.

#3. New Rule for 2015: Helmets
As of January 1, 2015, all youth (18 and under) at all AQHA-sanctioned events, when riding in an English hunt saddle, must wear properly fastened protective headgear that meets ASTM/SEI stanŽdards or equivalent international standards for equestrian use. The helmet must also be properly fitted with harness secured. Read the press release from December 2013 that announced this rule change.

#4. New 75 Anniversary Membership Cards
In 2015, AQHA will be celebrating its 75th anniversary. And in honor of this great event, we have lots of exciting things planned. One of the big things you will see for 2015 is the introduction of a special membership card to honor AQHA's 75 years.

We wanted you to have a sneak peek at these cards with notation of where the important information is located. As you can see, member type has moved from the top of the card to the bottom of the card above the name; this is where you will need to look for amateur status. We will begin sending to members in the fourth quarter of 2014 and will continue to use these membership cards for the entire 2015 calendar year.

Thanks for helping us celebrate 75 years!
