CQHA Announces Change to Team Canada's Member Roster
for the 2014 AQHA Youth World Cup
(Langley, BC - March 19, 2014) - The USA will be the host country for the next biennial American Quarter Horse Association's Youth World Cup to be held in Bryan College Station, Bryan, Texas from July 3-13, 2014. This event, first held in Australia in 1986 as the International Youth Quarter Horse World Cup, has become one of the most prestigious equine competitions recognized world wide. It is a major initiative of the CQHA to field a youth team for this competition which is held every two years.
Due to a recent withdrawal from the team by one youth leadership member, the CQHA Youth World Cup Committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Haley Franc of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan as a Leadership member for Team Canada 2014. (To see the complete roster of Team Canada members, please visit our website.)
 | Haley Franc |
Haley Franc, 16, hails from Prince Albert Saskatchewan. She is well on her way to accomplishing her life goal of becoming one of the industry's top horsemen and competitors in the Reining discipline. While Haley has focused her riding on the Reining, she also has trained in Cutting and Western Pleasure.
Some of her many accomplishments include being the Western Canada Regional Circuit Champion, receiving the Saskatchewan Mentorship Honors in Reining, being the Saskatchewan High Performance Athlete Grant recipient, and winning numerous high point awards.
Haley rode for Team Canada for the North American Junior Young Rider Championships in Kentucky Lexington and was the individual gold medal winner and a member of the silver medal team. Haley competes nationally and internationally and has been recognized for her skills and hard work in youth, non-pro, limited non-pro, intermediate non-pro and open classes. Haley ended her 2012 season by receiving the honoured Equine Canada's Junior Equestrian of the Year Award.
Although Haley spends most of her time with horses, she attends Rivier Academy Independent Catholic School, and has also found time to be a competitive dancer in ballet, tap and jazz. She also volunteers with Parkrange Veterinary Services, Reining Canada and in the past, at the Red River Riding and Roping Arena.
Team Canada welcomes Haley as she brings her dedication, willingness and team spirit to Bryan/College Station in July.
