Youth Excellence Seminar (YES) AQHA Youth members have the chance to experience a three-day fun-filled event that offers valuable leadership skills and inspiring speakers.
YES welcomes AQHYA members ages 14 to 18 to experience this three-day fun-filled event that offers valuable leadership skills, inspiring speakers and tons of fun.
Participants will come from across the United States and Canada to learn about leadership and industry-related topics.
"The YES conference brings youth from all over the country together. It is a great way for youth members to meet new friends, learn about AQHYA on the national level and even run for a national officer or director," says AQHYA Secretary Bailey Mierzejewski of Mount Sterling, Ohio. "There are many different activities planned each year, and it's a fun time for everyone!
"Everyone is so welcoming at YES, even if it's your first time attending," Bailey says. "It is easy to meet new friends and learn about AQHYA at the same time."
This year's YES theme is "Be Somebody's Superhero." Professional speaker, author and adventurer John Beede is the keynote speaker and will present "Becoming Super-Awesome." John has been struck by lightning, attacked by a 5-foot iguana, swam with a whale shark, nearly plunged 300 feet to his death and once did the hokey-pokey in the eye of a hurricane.
Other great entertainment includes comedy hypnotist Gerry Kelly, a shopping trip to Cavender's Boot City, a dance, horse judging and Aquaman Olympics.YES features the annual officer elections and awards banquet for AQHYA.
