of 2013
We are pleased to announce the election of George Caulkins, Roger Brown, Chad Lee Fleischer, Richard Rokos and Larry Zimmer into the Hall of Fame class of 2013. They will join a prestigious group of Hall of Fame athletes and visionaries who have made significant contributions to the Colorado ski industry when they are formally inducted during the 37th annual Colorado Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame Induction Gala in October.
This year's class was selected from a total of 15 nominees which included: Mike Brown, Pam Conklin, Ceil Folz, Karen Lancaster Ghent, Cheryl Jensen, Scott Kennett, Mike and Steve Marolt, Berry Mink M. D.,
C. J. Mueller, Steve Raymond and Sandy Trombetta.

Each year, on Memorial Day, veterans of Colorado's 10th Mountain Division gathered at their World War II Memorial Monument at Camp Hale to honor their fallen comrades and members of the current 10th Mountain Division who have been lost in combat. Last year the guest of honor and principal speaker was Hugh Evans, World War II veteran and member of the 10th Mountain Division, Units 85-C and 85-A. Following is Mr. Evans' keynote address: "Why do we have wars? Man has struggled with this conundrum since he first set foot on earth. Some say it is the result of his survival instinct which certainly is partially true. Where there are limited resources man must fight for the food and shelter his family or tribe needs. Others want these same resources. It is also man's nature to protect what he believes is his and right. In this issue we announce the Hall of Fame Inductees for 2013. As I'm sure you will agree each person on the list has significantly contributed to snow sports and is deserving of this recognition. As we look forward to celebrating their accomplishments at the Hall of Fame Gala on October 18, 2013 we wanted to take a moment and look back at the long tradition of recognizing individual success in sports.

NEWS FROM THE CURATOR The Institute of Museum and Library Science (IMLS) grant project is in full swing with over 100 films being selected for digitization with GW Hannaway & Associates in Boulder, CO. We are in the first year of this three-year grant to help the museum digitize a large portion of their film and VHS collections.
