The Bloomingdale CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition's annual Celebration Night was held on Tuesday, October 13 in Old Town Park. This year's theme was the Pillar of Responsibility. The event kicked-off with the Presentation of Colors conducted by the Bloomingdale VFW Post 7539 and Bloomingdale Boy Scouts, followed by the Westfield Middle School Chorus and Band's performance of America the Beautiful. Village Trustee Michael Hovde Jr. read the Joint Proclamation proclaiming CHARACTER COUNTS! Day in the Village of Bloomingdale.
 
The evening included the presentation of the 2015 American Youth Character Awards, (award recipients pictured right with their respective school official).  The audience was entertain by performances by students from Erickson, DuJardin, Westfield Middle, and St. Isidore schools, and also by the Bloomingdale Park District Beamers. The evening concluded with all students singing the "Rainbow Connection" followed by the CHARACTER COUNTS! Shuffle, led by Mark Dwyer, the principal at DuJardin Elementary School.
 
Collections taken for Socktober that evening provided warm socks for homeless individuals.
Village-wide Halloween Party
Halloween Open House
The Bloomingdale Community is invited to the annual Village-wide Halloween Party on Saturday, October 24, presented by the Bloomingdale Park District, Public Library, Police Department and Fire Protection District. Activities will be held in the areas between the Library, Village Hall and Fire Department.

Police & Fire Department Activities: (10 AM to 2 PM)
Halloween-themed building tours, trick-or-treating, activities and games.

Library & Park District Activities (Noon to 3 PM)
Hay maze, inflatable moon walk, tumbling play station, face painters, balloon artists, entertainment, pictures available, free refreshments, and a family pumpkin decorating contest (while supplies last).

(Please note that parking will be available in the surrounding residential areas as there is no parking onsite).
