United Way Celebration of Caring
Join us at Zoellner Arts Center on April 30 for Celebration of Caring, where we'll celebrate and thank United Way supporters for building a stronger, healthier Lehigh Valley. Special recognition will also be given to WLC's Philanthropist of the Year.
Lehigh Valley Women's Summit WLC, along with Cedar Crest College and the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber's Women's Business Council, will co-host the Lehigh Valley Women's Summit on June 3 at Cedar Crest College. This year's event will feature breakout sessions, workshops and a special appearance by keynote speaker, Marlo Thomas. Volunteer and Donation Opportunities

Central Elementary School in Allentown - Volunteer with enrichment activities.
- Donations needed: Books and board games for raffle baskets, children's clothing, tissues and snacks.
Lincoln Elementary School - Volunteer to mentor a child.
- Donations needed: Children's clothing (pants, sweatshirts, sweatpants, jackets size medium thru extra-large, socks and size small underwear), raffle tickets, monetary donations to assist with purchasing SmartBoards in the classroom.
WLC Marketing & Development Committees - Join a WLC committee to assist with event planning, website development, social media and communicating WLC's message.

Lincoln Elementary School WLC funds 100% of the out-of-school enrichment programs for the lowest-performing students at Lincoln Elementary. A recent assessment of these students showed that with WLC's support:
- 84% of students improved their classroom participation
- 79% of student showed improved confidence
- 74% of students improved academically
WLC funds 55% of the out-of- school enrichment programs open to all Lincoln Elementary students. Spring 2014 programs include:
- Bricks4Kidz - A science and engineering program.
- Glam Squad - A program that teaches conflict resolution and self-esteem building for girls.
- An integrated arts and conservation program offered by the Baum School of Art and Wildlands Conservancy.
Central Elementary School
With WLC's support...
- 95 families received assistance at Thanksgiving
- Family Science Night - The event had maxed out at attendance. Students and their families were able to participate in four different hands-on science experiments.
- The last Book Blast had record attendance of over 260 participants.
This spring, WLC will support the following programs at Central Elementary School:
- Reading support
- Math support
- Bricks4Kidz - NASA-theme science and engineering program
- Baum School of Art - Recyclable arts projects
- Young Playwright's Lab - Afterschool literacy and performing arts enrichment
- Da Vinci Science Center Science Club
- "Recyclable arts projects" with the Baum School of Art
