Is that behavior DCC or something else?
|
"How many times have you thought "is that behavior a result of the corpus callosum disorder or is it because of something else?" Many individuals with callosum disorders, as well as their family members, have asked me that question. Usually they are looking for a way to change a particular behavior, or at least cope with it more effectively. The Caltech Corpus Callosum Research Program is working in collaboration with other laboratories to unravel this mystery." Full article by Lynn Paul available in the NODCC Newsletter. Tom's remarkable journey with ACC
| "Although we ACCers as a people, can make others cry, scream, and shout, we can also make them smile and laugh, in ways no others can.....although we may face challenges and present challenges not often understood, or sometimes misunderstood, we all have character and spirit, which always shines through. My name is Tom. I am a 35-year old individual with C-ACC. I just completed ten years in the Information Technology industry as a full-time Software Developer, after having attained a B.S. in Computer Science. I found out about my C-ACC two years ago." Angelina's Brilliant Idea
| "Angelina may be missing part of her brain, but she has a brilliance that we all strive for - the ability to see her challenges as a way to benefit others! For Angelina's thirteenth birthday, her grand entrance into teenager-hood, she wanted to do something a little different. She and her mom decided to use this milestone as an opportunity to raise awareness about disorders of the corpus callosum (DCC) and raise funds for the NODCC. On her party invitations, Angelina asked that people donate to the NODCC rather than give her gifts. When asked how she felt about not receiving gifts at her own party, Angelina responded: 'It wasn't hard not to receive gifts because I wanted to give the money to other people like me, other people with ACC. It made me so happy to send $503, I couldn't believe it was that much!'" Read the entire story in our latest newsletter at www.nodcc.org.
