Long-awaited Global Warming Solutions Act progress report:
Where Connecticut stands, where we go from here

Connecticut has one of the nation's first comprehensive carbon laws. A new report from DEEP shows our state's progress.

The Global Warming Solutions Act, passed in 2008 with support from CFE and fellow members of the Stop Global Warming CT Coalition, requires our state to meet greenhouse gas emissions targets in 2020 and 2050. Last Friday, CT DEEP released a long-awaited progress report, reviewing steps taken so far and the cuts we still need to make.

Please visit our blog for more on DEEP's report and what the EPA's new Clean Power Plan means for Connecticut.

Connecticut achieved its emissions goal for 2010. Now we must build on success and work toward our 2020 and 2050 goals.

Over the next year, we'll be working on projects with a lot of potential to cut greenhouse gas emissions and help Connecticut reach its goals.
We are:
  • Partnering with businesses and building owners in Stamford to set an example by reducing their energy use
  • Advocating for policies on shared solar, submetering, and on-site generation to increase renewable energy, reduce emissions, and make our electrical grid more resilient
  • Promoting public transit and low-emissions vehicles to dramatically cut pollution from cars

We'll keep you in the loop with news and chances for you to help by contacting state leaders!
