Can you make two quick phone calls today to help make sure one of the Northeast's great coastal forests is protected?

After a decade-long fight to stop private developers from turning 1,000 acres of rare forest and wetland into a subdivision and golf course, the state and Old Saybrook now have the opportunity to permanently protect it by buying the land.

Last week Governor Malloy announced $1.9 million in state funding (plus another $1.4 million in federal money) towards purchase of the property. We need to make sure the state legislature approves that funding by Wednesday!

Please call your state senator and representative today and ask them to support state funding for The Preserve.

It's quick and easy. Call any time of day and tell the aide or answering machine that you're a constituent and you want your senator and representative to vote in favor of funding to protect The Preserve. Find their phone numbers here.

The Preserve is the last unprotected coastal forest of its size between New York City and Boston. It's home to bobcats, turtles, and rare salamanders that need its 38 seasonal pools, and has miles of hiking trails that will connect to nearby parks. Please help protect it for the future enjoyment of all Connecticut's people!
