Sequestration Begins March 1, 2013!

With no deal in sight, the automatic, across-the-board spending cuts known as sequestration are now scheduled to take effect on March 1, 2013.

Sequestration will have a significant impact on the level of funding that states and local school district receive to help offset the additional costs of providing special education and related services to students with disabilities.

According to Education Secretary Arne Duncan, $600 million will be cut from federal special education funding, requiring states and districts to cover the cost of approximately 7,200 teachers, aides, and other staff.

We've posted all states'
IDEA sequester reductions.

For a complete report of everything your state will lose, check out the White House  state-by-state reports on the impact of sequestration. Find out how much your state will lose!

Now, here's what you can do:
  • Send your members of Congress a message asking for a balanced approach to spending reductions and to avoid any reductions to federal funding for IDEA.

Use Contacting the Congress to find your members of Congress and send them your message to stop sequestration.

Our nation's 6 million students with disabilities are counting on you!

                                    Thank you!
