Fall 2015 eNews
We've been really busy and think you'll be excited about all we have to share!
We've got a brand new website!

We hope you like it as much as we do! The new site launched earlier this month. It works on smartphones and tablets as well as computer monitors, is loaded with great resources, and built in a way that makes it easy to keep up to date. Thanks to Mary and Janet and everyone Methownet.com for all of their talent, expertise, and all around wonderfulness.

Do you have stuff that is too good to toss??

Or maybe you looking for something but don't necessarily need it to be brand new?

We're excited to announce plans to launch a new website to help you easily make these exchanges! This site will be searchable, it's only purpose is to make stuff last longer, and it will be ready to use before the snow flies!

Serving all of Okanogan County, our site will be the go-to place to find and hand-off a wide variety of items - for free or for sale. You'll also be able to publicize yard sales, swap events, special events at local thrift stores and more.

We are looking for some early adopters who would like to help us perform the shake-down of this new service. Please join this special mailing list if you'd like to be involved!

A fantastic way to support our work!

Through September 30th only! Your gift to Methow Recycles via GiveMethow.org will be s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d by gifts made to the Methow Valley Fund, making your donation go even further!

The next 2 Wednesdays are very special. On September 23rd and 30th Give Methow will award a prize of $1,000 to the organization receiving the greatest number of gifts on each of those days. With your help, that could be Methow Recycles!!

We hope you'll visit www.givemethow.org
Meet Miles

If you've been to the Recycling Center in Twisp in the last couple of weeks you've probably seen a new face. Miles Milliken is our new Operations Manager, and you'll find him every day the Center is open as well as out and about in the community.

Miles is a Seattle native with family ties to the Methow Valley. He comes to us from Washington D.C. where he recently completed a degree in Environmental Studies and worked for the Zero Waste and Sustainability programs at George Washington University.

Miles is excited about getting to know the Methow Valley, and is working very hard to remember all the names he's learned in the last 2 weeks! Please join me in extending a warm Methow Valley welcome to Miles!
Thank you Susan!

Susan Ernsdorff has been our Plant Manager since January 2011. If you were at the July 4th parade in Twisp this year, she was the ring-leader of the immensely popular gang of silly bicyclists wearing plastic bottles on their heads.

We are grateful for Susan's dedicated work on behalf of Methow Recycles - keeping the center running smoothly, working with Liberty Bell students, organizing Earth Day litter cleanups, and much, much more.

Susan has been a strong proponent of having one larger rather than two smaller plant management roles. This larger job is not one she wishes to fill. We are very grateful for her recommendation and support of this transition for the long-term good of Methow Recycles.

We'll be hosting an open house to celebrate Susan's work for Methow Recycles sometime during the first half of October. Please join us there or anywhere you see Susan to say "thanks!'
Thank you Sharla!

We were super-happy to have Sharla Lynn filling in for the last few months as Assistant Manager. She hopped back into the job she held two years ago, and kept things running smoothly as we worked on the re-organization of the plant staff positions.

Sharla also lead the team of awesome volunteers who handled the very successful recycling effort at this year's Rhythm and Blues Festival.

When you see Sharla around the valley, give her a great big thank you!

Most of all, thank you!

We are so grateful to be surrounded by people who care as much about the planet and future generations as we do. Please let us know how we're doing, if we can answer any questions, or how you'd like to be more involved.
