Advances in distributed control of distribution-level energy resources
by Dr. Emiliano Dall'Anese of NREL
The power system is gradually evolving towards a massively distributed infrastructure with thousands of controllable end-points. The talk will focus on distribution systems with high integration of photovoltaic (PV) systems and finally how distributed control strategies recently developed by NREL enable voltage regulation and power-quality control, while continuously driving the system operation towards economically-optimal targets.

Surface-Mount Resistor Ratings
When looking to save space, it might be tempting to throw down a 0201 resistor, but before making this a part of the design, be certain it won't blow up!  Although there are numerous options when it comes to surface-mount parts, the physical sizes of these devices influence factors other than just power. Resistors have voltage limits, and there might be a good reason there are 1206 parts on your voltage rails.

Typical Resistor Specifications
Notice that if you need to be operating with 300V across your resistor, even a 2512 may not get you there.  In that case it might be better to switch to a through hole component, such as the CMF60 1W package. -NM, DF
