Staff Profile: 5 Things You Didn't Know About Katie Polizzi

Katie Polizzi is one of our ABA Program Coordinators at BAC. Here are five things you didn't know about Katie!

- She was the captain of her speech and debate team in college.
- She's enjoyed fishing since she was a toddler.
- Like a true Long Island girl, she's known all the words to Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" since she was four.
- She loves Jets football and the UFC and listens to sports radio every morning on the way to work.
- This month marks her three-year anniversary at BAC. "I've been able to see the growth and development of an amazing working environment. I enjoy coming in every day and knowing that we are not only growing as a school but I am able to contribute to the growth of the Learners and staff every day."

We're Thankful for Our Progress at BAC!

Over the last month, we have had many fun and exciting activities at BAC! We are very fortunate to be in such a welcoming building where staff members from all organizations want to work together. During Halloween, many of the organizations in our building participated in a trick-or-treating event where our students and the students from the Helen Keller School for the Blind dressed up and went to the different floors, where they were greeted by friendly people from different businesses. Everyone had such a great time!

Our students have all continued to enjoy their time each week during horseback riding, yoga, and music. They will also be starting to take trips to the local library on Fridays to learn how to check out books and use their own library cards.

The wonderful students from our partner school, Hannah Senesh, will be starting to come to our school to help facilitate peer socialization. Some of our students will also be joining the students from Hannah Senesh at their school during their inclusion time.

We would like to publicly congratulate Khadine Joseph for her recent promotion to a lead instructor position. We would also like to welcome Sara Jelinek to our staff as our newest behavioral instructor, and a new student, Yehavit, to join the BAC family!

We are all very excited to have a new instructor, 2 new BCBA interns, 3 new volunteers, and our new Executive Director, Jana Levin, join our team!  The BAC family continues to grow!

Thank you all so much for your support!

Sincerely,

Julie Russell
