Thanks to the support of Eugene voters, all Library locations are now open more hours, which is bringing in many happy visitors. We're also training lots of new staff this summer. And expanding our volunteer team too, especially for Storytime-To-Go leaders and the Maker Hub (shown). Interested in volunteering? Get in touch now for fall.

Cartoonist Matt Diffee
Laugh out loud with award winning New Yorker cartoonist Matt Diffee (8/13). In addition to writing and drawing hilarious single panels, he's a highly entertaining speaker. At this illustrated talk introduced by "Stone Soup" creator Jan Eliot, Diffee will share thoughts on cartooning, the creative process, and more. Find his works in the Library catalog.

"Longmire" Author Craig Johnson
Catch a talk by Craig Johnson, author of the bestselling "Longmire" mystery novels that inspired the hit Netflix series (8/27). He'll talk about what it's like to watch his books adapted for TV. Plus: readings from his latest, "The Highwayman," and his not yet released "An Obvious Fact." Borrow the books, ebooks, audiobooks, and DVDs.

Summer Reading for Kids . . .
Fun and learning for children continue this month with free events at all Library locations. Play animal-inspired games at Creature Feature with Nearby Nature (8/2-8/3). At Hip Hop, get moving with Unity School of Dance (8/9-8/10). And everyone's invited to the annual Eugene's Got Talent variety show (8/18, with auditions 8/17).

There's more hands-on creativity for teens at all locations with Comics Workshops (8/3-8/5, shown) by celebrated artist Phil Yeh.
