Innovators, DIYers, artists, and crafters of all ages! At the Maker Expo (2/13), enjoy demos and hands-on fun with a variety of the Library's newest tech and craft tools: 3D printer, synthesizer, embroidery machine, electronics, and more. Plus, coming this spring: maker activities will expand with the opening of dedicated Maker Hub rooms at the Downtown Library. Read more.

Forsooth! Everyone's been flocking to free Shakespeare events at the Downtown Library in connection with the First Folio exhibit at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. Join us for a First Friday (2/5) concert by Oregon Bach Collegium emceed by The Bard himself, or "Naked Shakespeare," a talk by Judith "Sparky" Roberts illustrated by professional actors (2/6). This month, Sunday Family Fun will feature Chinese New Year (2/7), Valentines Day (2/14), ballet (2/21), and the science of sound (2/28). Celebrate Black History Month with an audience-participation play performed by and for kids about astronaut Mae Jemison (2/24). Thinking about homeschooling - or already doing it? Local Literary Lights
The finalists for the 2016 Oregon Book Awards have been announced -- and two of the honored writers will be featured at the Windfall Reading Series (2/16) at the Downtown Library. Barbara Drake will read from her collection of essays "Morning Light" and Nick Jaina will share his memoir "Get It While You Can." The Windfall series is made possible by a partnership between the Library and Lane Literary Guild.

The Library Advisory Board, which gives community input on services and policies, is currently seeking applications for two openings: one youth and one Bethel Branch user. We're glad to report that the Library's website is now easier and more satisfying to use on your phone or tablet. A recent mobile-friendly update by the City of Eugene included the Library's site, allowing us to streamline menus and pages for your convenience. Now you'll find everything you need, whichever device you use to connect. Check it out.
Coming Up: Library Jobs
When Eugeneans voted to expand Library services for the coming five years, the promised changes were: more open hours, more programs, and more materials and technology. Eugene Public Library is now starting to post employment opportunities at all levels and locations to support those services. Learn about positions and how to apply here.
