March, 2015

I'd like to share some bittersweet news with our school community. Principal Christy Toben will be expecting her second child this summer and will not return to Marian for the 2015-2016 school year. Christy has been a valuable member of the Marian family since 2003 when she came to the school as our English teacher through the Gateway Vincentian Volunteer Program. She continued teaching English for a few more years before becoming principal in 2007. While we are sad to see her leave, please join me in thanking Christy for her noteworthy contributions over the past decade.

Since the beginning of 2015, a committee has been searching for a qualified candidate to take Christy's position. I am happy to announce the appointment of Sister Sarah Heger, CSJ, as principal for the 2015-2016 school year. Sister Sarah has been with Marian as a 5th grade teacher since 2010, and this year also took on the role of vice principal. She is a strong leader and I have the utmost confidence that she will lead Marian with distinction. Please join me in congratulating Sister Sarah.
A Word from Christy Toben
My husband and I are looking forward to welcoming a new baby girl to our family in mid-June. With a household of two children under two, I know that I will no longer be able to give Marian Middle School's mission the same level of energy our students and families deserve. I'm looking forward to finishing the academic year as principal and seeing our current 8th graders graduate. We're excited to welcome Sister Sarah as principal for the upcoming school year. Please join me in congratulating Sister Sarah!
A Word from Sister Sarah Heger
I am thrilled to assume the role of principal following Christy's exemplary guidance as Marian's academic and faith leader. After five years at Marian, the mission continues to inspire and ignite my heart as both an educator and a Sister of St. Joseph. My confidence and excitement spring from the incredible support of the Marian community and its call to be my best self each and every day. As I anticipate the joys and challenges of the new role, I count on the encouragement, collaboration, and prayers of the entire Marian family. I am so glad we are "Educating Girls for Life" together.
