July, 2014

Summer is in full swing and our Marian Girls are busy soaking up the sun while gaining new skills and knowledge. Nearly 40% of Marian Middle School students are attending camp this summer, giving them the chance to improve their study habits, use their creativity and resourcefulness, and discover what life is like as a college student. These summer camps are available to our students because of your support. Thank you for your commitment to Educating Girls for Life!
Sister Sarah Steps into a New Role
Sister Sarah, second from right
Marian Middle School staff is excited to welcome Sister Sarah Heger, CSJ, into a new leadership role. Sister Sarah has served as our fifth grade teacher for the last four years and will now serve as vice principal for the upcoming school year. Currently, she is enrolled in the Catholic Educational Leadership graduate program at St. Louis University and working towards her principal certification. Sister Sarah will continue in her teaching responsibilities as fifth grade teacher, while also taking on some additional administrative duties. "I'm excited about building relationships in a different way with Marian families, students, staff, and extended community in my new role. No doubt the learning curve will be steep, but I am grateful for the opportunity for personal and professional growth. The Marian Mission is the best and I am glad we are creating the story together!"

Graduate Highlight: Siane
Siane, MMS class of 2012 and current student at Crossroads College Preparatory School, recently placed second in the women's lightweight division at the USA Boxing Junior Olympic National Championships. Siane remains focused, and is determined to meet all of her goals. During the 2013-14 school year, she held a 3.25 average, participated in cheering, and played basketball at Crossroads. Math and science classes are her favorites, and she plans to study physical therapy in college.
