This Arthritis Foundation-sanctioned, 8-week class is designed to help you build a lifetime of skills that you can use at home to build a yoga practice of your own.

| WHAT IS HAPPENING IN AQUATICS | | |
New Ultraviolet Technology
If you've noticed that the pool seems fresher with less of a chlorine smell it is because we have installed the latest in pool technology-- an ultraviolet water treatment system. We are one of the few pools in the area with this system, which reduces pesky chloramines and their side effects: red eyes, skin irritations and swim suit deterioration. Now you can enjoy a much healthier swim enviroment in glacier-clear sparkling water!
Second Graders Learn to Swim
Learning to swim as a child is not only a fun way to increase skills, it can be a life-saving achievement. The Victory Family YMCA recognizes the importance of drowning prevention and offers free swim lessons to all students currently in second grade.
The program occurs on Fridays between January 24-February 28 from 4:45 PM- 5:30 PM. Each week-long session is designed to teach a variety of swim skills as well as build self-confidence and endurance in the water. Be sure to register at the Welcome Center. |

| DONATE YOUR JEANS TO SOMEONE IN NEED | | |
This is the time of year we often feel the need to get organized, clean out closets and get our lives in order. You can also use that energy to help someone in need!
From now until February 14, donate your gently-used jeans to our Jeans for Teens program. We collect all sizes, not just for kids. Please bring in any clean jeans that you and your family no longer need and place them in the donation box in the lobby. |
| POPOVERS MAKE A HEALTHY BREAD | | |
February is known as "heart healthy" month and it's a good time to try something new. Below is a recipe for popovers-- a type of bread/muffin that was very popular many years ago and one that is making a comeback. They are easy, use only using a few ingredients, they cook fast and are best eaten hot out of the oven. The below recipe was taken from the Mayo clinic website:
Serves 6
Ingredients:
1 cup fat-free milk
1 cup all-purpose (plain) flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 egg whites
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 425 F. Generously coat 6 large metal or glass muffin molds with cooking spray. Heat the muffin molds in the oven for 2 minutes.
In a large bowl, add the milk, flour, salt and egg whites. Using an electric mixer, beat until smooth. Fill the heated muffin molds 2/3 full. Bake in the top part of the oven until golden brown and puffy, about 30 minutes. Serve immediately. |
