Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is a form of yoga that seeks to achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation with the aid of props. We work very hard in our lives, and while we may sleep, we rarely take time to rest. Restorative yoga poses help us learn to relax and rest deeply and completely.

This eight-week session is open to anyone undergoing cancer treatment and/or its survivors.

Getting Your Estate in Order

If the idea of estate and financial planning seems overwhelming, then consider taking the estate planning course offered this month.  Included with this course is the "Five Wishes" workbook, a living will tool that helps you express your wishes.  The course is on Wednesdays from 1:30-3:00 from October 9 through November 20. Sign up at the Welcome Center!

DON'T FORGET TO EAT BREAKFAST!

Eating a healthy breakfast gives you a good start to your day.  Breakfast is especially important for children and adolescents. According to the American Dietetic Association, children who eat a healthy breakfast are more likely to:

  • Meet daily nutrient requirements
  • Concentrate better
  • Have better problem-solving skills
  • Have better hand-eye coordination
  • Be more alert
  • Be more creative
  • Miss fewer days of school
  • Be more physically active

Below is a quick and easy recipe that you can make ahead that even kids will like:

Oatmeal Yummy

2 cups vanilla Greek Yogurt

1 cup uncooked oatmeal

1 small can of crushed pineapple (with juice)

1/4 cup toasted almonds or walnuts

Mix together the night before.  Serve with sliced fruit and more yogurt-- or by itself!
