REGISTER NOW FOR BEFORE AND AFTER-SCHOOL CARE

July may be a time for backyard barbeques, beach trips and summer fun, but it is also time to start thinking about the next school year!

Registration has begun for Before- and After-School child care. The YMCA School-Age program provides an environment where children can easily make friends, be part of a group, meet physical challenges, and know they are liked, respected and appreciated!

Spaces fill up fast, so make an appointment today to get your child registered for the 2013-2014 school year! Call Nick Johansen, Program Director, at (757) 867-3300 x 217 to make an appointment.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY

A Christmas tree adorning the Victory Y lobby in July may be a strange sight, but take a closer look!

Grab a tag and take it to the Welcome Center and make a donation to our Bright Beginnings program. This program ensures that children in our community start out with the clothing and supplies they need to be successful in school.  Our goal is to take 135 children shopping in August.

Make a difference in a child's life and donate, or volunteer to help! For more information contact Donna Blake, Community Development Director, at (757) 867-3300 x 211.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR MEMBERS AND STAFF!

Our own gold medal winner!

The Victory YMCA would like to congratulate member Mirjam

WELCOME NEW STAFF MEMBERS
We've had a few changes here at the Victory Y and are thrilled to welcome several new staff members!

Craig Payne is our new Regional Property Director. He came to us from Gault Electric where he was a superintendent/ foreman. Craig is a 2002 graduate of Warwick High school and the proud dad of a 1-year-old little boy.  In his spare time Craig enjoys fishing, going to the beach and time with his family.

Our Associate Wellness Director, Jen Engelmeyer, is a CNU graduate with a degree in biology. She is an AFFA certified personal trainer and group ex instructor.  Her family (husband Todd and three children ages 6, 9, and 11) keep her busy as well as her other activites which include serving as chair for the Coventry PTA, coaching youth soccer, team baseball mom and serving in Youth Ministries with her church.

You may have noticed a new face at the Welcome Center!  Wendi Rawls is our new Associate Membership Director and comes to us from the Hampton Family YMCA where she served as Membership Coordinator.  Wendy is a 2010 graduate of Regent University with a BA in Communications. She loves music (listening and singing!), traveling (only 6 more states until she's seen them all), outdoor activities and time with friends and family.

Katelyn Cianelli is our new Wellness Coordinator. With a degree in Nutrition, Wellness & Exercise from Bridgewater College she enjoys teaching our group ex classes. Her other interests include playing church softball, cooking and she is an avid Yankees fan!

Sarah Crouse, our Associate Program Director, recently graduated from Christopher Newport University with degrees in Communication Studies and Leadership. During her time at CNU, Sarah actively volunteered at Victory as a soccer and basketball coach through the President's Leadership Program. Sarah also sang in an a cappella group, directed new student orientation, and founded a sorority! Originally from Salisbury, Maryland, Sarah is very excited to lead teen programs and summer camp here at Victory!

Feel free to say "hi" and introduce yourself when you meet our new staff. We are lucky to have them join us!
