Tell Them Thanks! flag

Help us say "thank you" to our veterans and military families.  The next time you are in the Y, write a note to let them know how much you appreciate what they do for our country and for the sacrifices they have made for all of us. See the Welcome Center for details.

Veterans' Day Fun Walk/Run

A fun way to say "thank you" and get some exercise at the same time is to participate in the Victory YMCA Veterans' Day Fun Walk/Run planned for Sunday, November 11. The event includes a 2 to 3-mile walk/run through the Greenlands neighborhood starting at the Victory Y, and a 1-mile child and pet walk.

Net proceeds benefit the Operation Homefront campaign.  Cost is $12 for adults and $5 for children. Registration begins at 9:45 a.m. with the event starting at 10:30 a.m. A cookout will be provided for participants.

Pre-registration deadline is November 7, so contact the Welcome Center if this sounds like something you and your family would like to do.

DIABETES AWARENESS EVENT

The prevalence of diabetes has reached epidemic proportions, but with lifestyle changes and medication it is a disease that can be managed.

In honor of Diabetes Awareness Month, our YMCA is partnering with the Chesapeake chapter of the American Diabetes Associate for a diabetes awareness event on Monday, November 19th, from 8:30 a.m.- 10:30 a.m.  You may register for this free event at the Welcome Center from October 22- November 17.  PDF

A LETTER TO OUR MEMBERS

To Our YMCA Members,

This season reminds us to give thanks!  On behalf of the Victory Family YMCA team, thank you for your continued support and dedication to the Victory Family YMCA.  We are honored to have you as part of our Y family.  We know you have other choices, and we appreciate you choosing the YMCA.

As you know, the Y is more than a gym!  We are for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.  As we approach our 10-year anniversary in January 2013, we realize we have a lot to celebrate!

Respectfully,

Kim Wood

Sr. Operations Director
