Hocus Pocus Pops
 "Spooktacular" Essay Contest

Don't forget that your spooky stories are due by this Monday, Sept. 23 at 5 p.m.!

Eligibility: Kindergarten - High School

Essay Format: Typed in 12 pt. font, double-spaced or handwritten in ink, double spaced. 1,000 word maximum.

Cover Page: Needs to include name, age, grade, mailing address, phone number and email. Students should include their name on the cover sheet only, NOT on the essay.

Deadline: Sept. 23 at 5 p.m. Winners will be notified Oct. 4.

Grade Categories: Kindergarten, Grades 1-2, Grades 3-4, Grades 5-6, Grades 7-8 and Grades 9-12

Judging Criteria: Originality and Creativity - 40%, Style and Content - 30%, Spelling and Grammar - 20% and Neatness - 10%

Submission: Hand deliver or mail to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, Attn: Essay Contest, 2005 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77380 or email to info@woodlandscenter.org.

Prizes: One winner chosen from each grade category receives $50 Amazon gift cards, four VIP tickets to Hocus Pocus Pops Oct. 11 and has their essay printed in the program for the event.

One Grand Prize winner will be chosen at random from the six finalists and announced at Hocus Pocus Pops. The Grand Prize winner receives an Amazon Kindle Fire, $100 Amazon gift card and has their essay printed in The Courier and The Villager newspapers.

The Pavilion Partners want everyone to beat cancer!  We have set a goal of $2,000 for our first year and hope to make this a yearly event.
