"Feel The Sun Shine, Shinin' Down On Me and You" at Pre-Concert Dinner & Fundraiser
by Stanica Matijevich

It's going to be a "Long Hot Summer." Pull on your "Blue Jeans" and join us for a great event! Mark your calendar for The Pavilion Partners Pre-Concert Fundraiser Aug. 16.

The event takes place in the House of Blues Hospitality Tent prior to the Keith Urban concert. Tickets to this fun summertime event are $200 per person. The evening begins at 5 p.m. with dinner and beverages, but the fun doesn't stop there.

There will be chances to win great prizes and opportunities to bid on vacation packages, concert memorabilia, jewelry and more during the live auction. You won't want to miss out! All cowboys and cowgirls are encouraged to wear their favorite country summertime gear.

The proceeds of this event benefit The Pavilion's performing arts events and educational outreach programs. Fine Arts Education Day is just one of The Pavilion's educational outreach programs. It allows for CISD students to come to The Pavilion and see the Houston Symphony live in action. Programs like these help show students where a little hard work and determination can get you.

The "Days Go By," so you don't want to let this opportunity to support a great cause pass. To make your reservations for the Pre-Concert Fundraiser, visit www.woodlandscenter.org. Tickets are limited and seating is allocated on a first come, first served basis. Purchase your tickets today because, "We Talk About Forever But We've Only Got Today."

The Pavilion Partners Bring Fine Arts and Education Together Through Scholarship Opportunities
by Stanica Matijevich

"Bringing people and the arts together" is the motto of The Pavilion Partners, the official volunteer organization of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Started in 1998, this organization has lent their support to The Pavilion's educational outreach and fundraising programs throughout the years. However Partners giving spirit doesn't begin and end with The Pavilion.

Each year Partners awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors planning to major in the fine arts. More than $600,000 has been awarded to students majoring in the fine arts. Scholarships are awarded based on talent and academic performance and students are eligible for scholarship renewal each year.

Partners support for the performing arts goes deeper than volunteering at The Pavilion's performing arts events. Through the giving of scholarships the organization helps live up to the mission of The Pavilion by serving as a "resource for enhancing education."

This year Partners awarded 20 new scholarships and 43 renewal scholarships. A scholarship reception honoring new recipients and their families was held April 29 at The Pavilion.
