Friday's Performance of Houston Ballet's "Madame Butterfly" at The Pavilion Cancelled

Houston Ballet's " Madame Butterfly" scheduled for Friday, May 3 at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion has been cancelled due to anticipated inclement weather and low temperatures. The Ballet's management decided to postpone the performance for the safety of the performers. "We are disappointed by the cancelled ballet performance of ' Madame Butterfly' due to unexpected weather conditions on Friday evening," said Jerry MacDonald, president and CEO of The Pavilion. "We look forward to bringing back Houston Ballet for our 25th Season in 2014." Tickets for the May 3 performance of " Madame Butterfly" will be refunded. Refunds must be made at the point of purchase. Refunds will be automatically credited to the credit card of those who purchased tickets through www.ticketmaster.com or by phone through Ticketmaster. Individuals who purchased tickets through The Pavilion Box Office must be made in person. The Pavilion Box Office is open Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Refunds must be made by June 28, 2013. As a special offer, refund customers have the opportunity to receive a reserved seat ticket to " Madame Butterfly" at Miller Outdoor Theatre May 11 or 12. Customers must exchange their Pavilion ticket at the Box Office to receive a ticket to the performance on May 11 or 12 at Miller Outdoor Theatre. The Pavilion Box Office is open Mon.-Fri. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on certain weekend dates. The ticket exchange must be made by May 8. This offer is courtesy of Houston Ballet.  The 18th Annual Musical Scores was held on Wed., May 1 at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. More than 5,000 students, teachers and chaperones from the Greater Houston area were entertained by BREAK!, Drummer Peter Rabbit and Houston Rockets Launch Crew. Each student in attendance received a free lunch and Musical Scores t-shirt.

Celebrate Hans Graf's Farewell Concert at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion May 10

Commemorate Hans Graf's farewell season at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion May 10 at 8 p.m. for Maestro Graf's Farewell Concert. The beloved maestro steps onto The Pavilion's stage for the last time as Music Director of the Houston Symphony. The Symphony's 2012-13 season is Graf's grand finale after 12 years at the helm of this world-renowned orchestra. Tickets are $15 for orchestra seating. Mezzanine and lawn are free courtesy of The Wortham Foundation. Tickets are not required for free seating. Gates open at 7 p.m. The symphony performs Carl Maria von Weber's Overture to "Euryanthe," Frédéric Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 and Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, "Eroica." Special guest, Janina Fialkawska, joins the symphony on piano. Join us before the concert in the North Plaza for "A Toast to the Maestro," a free wine tasting event provided by Hubbell & Hudson starting at 7 p.m. Other pre-concert activities in the North Plaza sponsored by Fidelity Investments, Renewal by Andersen and Century 21 Realty Partners include The Pavilion Partners and Woodforest National Bank. Guests can register-to-win Tommy Bahama's "Best Seats in the House," which includes dinner for four at the next performing arts event and participate in Fidelity's Seat Exchange. At the symphony get insight into the evening's program with Pavilion Talk, a free pre-concert discussion led by noted music scholar and former college professor Ira J. Black from 7:15- 7:45 p.m. in the North Plaza. At all symphonies, guests are welcome to have a picnic in their seat or on the hill. Keep in mind that beverages cannot be brought into The Pavilion. Sitting on the hill? Lawn chairs also are provided free for this event!
