Governor Brewer has appointed Acting Director Gerrie Marks to be the new Director of the Arizona Department of Insurance (ADOI).
Ms. Marks was named Acting Director of the Arizona Department of Insurance by the Governor on 06/30/12 when the former Director, Christine Urias, resigned. Ms. Marks had served as the Deputy Director of ADOI since 2003. As Deputy Director, she was responsible for the oversight and coordination of all agency decisions for the Director.
From 1997-2003, Ms. Marks served as ADOI's Acting Deputy Director for Regulatory Affairs and Executive Assistant for Regulatory Affairs. From 1992-1997, she served as Assistant Attorney General at the Arizona Attorney General's Office.
Ms. Marks will face confirmation hearings in the Arizona State Senate where we will be able to testify and legislators will have a chance to ask any questions they want. We will be well prepared for these hearings.
Hopefully, the new Director will interpret and enforce the chiropractic insurance equality law in a fair and just manner as opposed the past practices.
