Students from Kathryn Roszak's "Dance on Center" Program for Children and Teens will perform their annual chamber recital version of "The Nutcracker" on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Osher Studio, located in the Arts Passageway at Berkeley Central, 2055 Center Street in Downtown Berkeley.

Every year our Fall session classes include the chance for all kids to perform in our annual presentation. This is always a fun and inventive performance, and the kids are often joined by members of the Danse Lumière company.

Come to Habitot Children's Museum  on Saturday, December 20th for a Giant Gingerbread House Party. Families will work together to decorate an enormous gingerbread house with sweets provided by Habitot, such as cookies, candies, and sprinkles. After the event, the festive gingerbread house will be donated to a local homeless shelter for families and children to enjoy.

 

Visitors can get ready for the big Gingerbread House Party by taking part in Habitot's Gingerbread House Workshops, December 5th - 13th. Families will build and decorate their own individual take-home gingerbread house. Workshops cost $25 for members, and $35 for non-members, for one child and one adult.

The  University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAM/PFA) will host a free day-long celebration on December 21, 2014 to commemorate its last day of programming in its current building at 2626 Bancroft Way. Let's Go! A Farewell Revel will feature dance battles by the brilliant TURFinc; a concert by the all-women vocal ensemble Kitka; a performance by groundbreaking artist Dohee Lee; sound art by Chris Kallmyer; art-making for kids of all ages with Veronica Graham; and a performance of György Ligeti's 1962 composition Poème symphonique for one hundred metronomes, led

by pianist/composer Sarah Cahill. The event will culminate in a celebratory procession across the UC Berkeley campus to the site of BAM/PFA's future home, which is under construction at 2155 Center St., on the corner of Oxford and Center Streets in Downtown Berkeley.

Celebrate the holidays at the Downtown Berkeley Tree Lighting at BART Plaza on Friday, December 5th, 5:30-6:30pm with family-friendly festivities!

Enjoy complimentary cookies from PIQ Bakery and Almare Gelato's famous hot chocolate as you listen to live holiday music by Berkeley Community Chamber Singers. There will even be a visit from Santa Claus, so bring a camera to take a picture with the whole family! Kids are invited to get creative with a fun and free art-making project with Habitot Children's Museum. Come enjoy the community spirit and gather 'round as Mayor Tom Bates lights the holiday tree. Check-in on Yelp and receive a free gift too! The Holiday Season - it starts here in Downtown Berkeley!
