This Saturday, Berkeley Spark is bringing Burning Man to Berkeley! Berkeley Spark is a free community-driven arts and technology festival where people create, collaborate, and connect, inspiring innovation and creativity. Experience the artistic spirit of Burning Man through interactive art sculptures, workshops, food, and a hip-hop open mic. You can dance on the mutant vehicle U.N.A.V.E.R.Z or on the grass to the talented DJ's from Barefoot Boogie, Ecstatic Dance Oakland, and Soul Sanctuary Dance. As part of Berkeley Spark's East Bay Innovation Tech Corridor, local innovators, designers, makers, hackers, scientists, and other creative types will be on site sharing their ideas and inventions, featuring algae-based batteries, EL wire workshops, and more.
Berkeley Spark's vendors will help prepare you for the playa, from organic beauty products to locally designed clothing and apparel to artisans and jewelry makers. Berkeley Spark's Beer and Wine Garden features popular hand-crafted brews from local breweries Drake's Brewing Company and Jupiter, while Dan Cook of The Mead Kitchen will be pouring his own hand-crafted meads. Taste artisan pork and vegan versions of banh mi from Amy Murray of Revival Bar + KitchenTamales Acapulco's authentic tacos, pupusas, and tamales, and Real Cool Frozen Treats.

For one afternoon, the David Brower Center will present Meet Your Maker, a celebration of the Bay Area's alternative economies. Meet Your Maker audiences will have the chance to explore a local craft market in the Brower Center gallery by Treasure Island Flea and Oakland's Jack of All Trades, including including handcrafted jewelry, originally made fashion, live art, re-purposed furniture pieces and more. Food trucks Cheese Gone Wild, Kenny's Heart & Soul, Naked Chorizo, Skylitesnowballs, and Drip Mobile Express, as well as local musicians Rob Reich, Kevin Kooyumjian, Shelby Lanterman, and Jack Cutter will be on hand to ensure attendees can fill their bellies, quench their thirst, and groove to the rhythm while they peruse the Maker offerings.
