Dear Downtown Property and Business Owners:

The Downtown Berkeley Association (DBA) Board of Directors has approved a 2.5% rate increase for 2014/2015 property tax assessments for Downtown Berkeley Property-Based Business Improvement District (PBID) to fund PBID operations in 2015.  The 2.5% increase will show up in your November 2014 tax bill.

This is the first increase in rates since the inception of the PBID in January 2012.  The board decided to increase rates this year to cover increased costs, plan for future office move (our office location is being developed) and renewal of the PBID in 2017, and insure continuity in our levels of service for our members.

Our Management District Plan allows the DBA board to increase assessments up to 5% per year, to cover increases in Bay Area Consumer Price Index and/or other changes in program costs.  The DBA is the Owners Association and governing board for the PBID.

We hope you will come to our Annual Meeting and Reception on Tuesday, April 8th, 5-7pm at The Magnes Collection at 2121 Allston Way, to vote on new board members, hear about our performance in 2013, and our plans for 2014 and beyond.  Please RSVP to invitation below.

Please do not hesitate to call or email me if you have any questions.

Best, John
