Uncharted: The Berkeley Ideas Festival, brings together leading thinkers in the fields of the environment, food, science and technology, public policy and social innovation for two extraordinary days in downtown Berkeley. Festival-goers will be engaged in conversations about robotics, the future of food, mass extinction, the 2014 mid-term elections, creativity, the continuing relevance of the humanities, civil rights and much, much more.
The festival is being produced by Berkeleyside, Berkeley's independent news site. Uncharted includes lively hands-on workshops and a fabulous party at the Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive. Most of all, Uncharted is a festival: varied, lively, surprising, fun.

Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life | 2121 Allston Way
A full weekend of Yiddish culture and popular klezmer music is offered October 26 - 27, when KlezCalifornia presents a comprehensive Yiddish Culture Festival at The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life, in Berkeley. The two days of interactive activity and fun will include music, song and dance, plus Yiddish theater and history. Among the highlights are headline performers and teachers, including the internationally renowned groups: the Strauss/Warschauer Duo from New York, and Veretski Pass.

The 22nd Annual Berkeley Video & Film Festival 2013 launches on October 25th, 26th, 27th and November 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2013 at the East Bay Media Center. This years' event screens over 90 filmmakers works, including two U.S. Premieres. 'One Night at the Aristo' by Nic Saunders of Great Britain, an experimental film based on a short story by William S. Burroughs, screens Friday, October 25th at 7:30pm and 'Abstract Alchemist of Flesh' by Colin Still and Optic Nerve of Great Britain, the penultimate documentary on poet Michael McClure, screens Friday, October 25th at 8:10pm.
An exclusive Berkeley Premiere, is one of the most outstanding and thought provoking environmental documentaries of the year, 'REVOLUTION' by Rob Stewart. If you go to the movies this year, you must see 'REVOLUTION', screening Saturday, October 26th at 7:30pm.
BVFF'S STUDENT FILM MARATHON has over 40 selections from student filmmakers across the country. Once again, BVFF features the First Look films of the University of Southern California Department of Cinema and Animation. The 7th Annual BCM Horror Film Festival is a spectacular community celebration of the short horror film. This is a benefit for Berkeley Community Media which ensures future film festivals to showcase film makers at BCM. Film makers gain additional media exposure with an interview on Horror TV by famed hosts Sinclair and Moby Theobald (aka Prime 8) which will air on BETV channel 28. Past film festival winners and up and coming talent from all over California attend this one night of thrills, chills and spills on October 26th at the newly remodeled Berkeley Community Media studios. Audience members are encouraged to dress up to enter the costume contest and win prizes. Raffle prizes are donated from local businesses, theaters and restaurants encouraging local-ism and helping to spotlight the richness of culture in Berkeley! Admission is only $10.
