Find out how much energy your building uses, compare it with other similar buildings in similar climates, and sign-up to have your building be recognized in the Annual Energy Smart Awards Program. The City of Berkeley and the City of Emeryville want to honor building owners, managers, and tenants for benchmarking their buildings! California law (AB 1103) will soon require the disclosure of an energy performance benchmarking score prior to selling, refinancing or leasing certain whole buildings.

Shattuck Ave from Haste Ave. to Rose St.
Sunday Streets Berkeley returns to Shattuck Ave. on Sunday, October 13th, 2013!

Sunday Streets Berkeley is a two-mile block party for people to experience Downtown Berkeley in a whole new way. Shattuck will be car-free from Haste to Rose, so people can walk, bike, skate, dance, and play in the open streets. Over 43,000 people attended last year's inaugural event. This year, we are expecting over 50,000 to attend.

This is not a typical street fair - No outside vendors allowed! Instead, merchants along the route and local organizations creatively engage customers through inviting storefronts, outdoor seating, parklets, interactive activities, classes, performers, musicians, dancers, educational experiences, demonstration, special menus, and more! Sunday Streets allow the public to discover new and long-time businesses, and create new community connections. Last year, Downtown merchants reported a 30-50% increase in daily profits.

As a local business/non-profit organization... make your storefront inviting and offer interactive activitiesSunday Streets Berkeley would love to highlight your business' special activity and/or extended storefront in online marketing, social media, press and community outreach. Let them know what you are up to at [email protected]. Leading your own interactive activity will draw the crowds of Sunday Streets participants towards your business and highlight your unique offerings. Also, please consider sharing your business' electricity with an independent performer. With access to electricity, Sunday Streets might be able to program an engaging performance directly in front of your business. Please contact [email protected] if you are able to share electricity.
As an individual... be an Activity Leader, Performer, or Volunteer!
Activity leaders organize and run an interactive program that encourages physical activity, stimulates interest in healthy, safety and the environment, or is just simply engaging and fun!
Performers can play music, do martial arts, perform a circus routine, do a BMX/skateboarding course, dance, sing, make pottery, create art, etc. Any amplified sound needs Sunday Streets organizer approval.
Volunteers help spread the word about Sunday Streets before the event to local businesses along the route, and to the greater community. On the event-day, volunteers help set up, staff the information booth, moniter intersections, and help clean up; they receive a limited-edition 2013 Sunday Streets t-shirt and a delicious lunch provided by Andronico's.
