Dear Downtown Berkeley Stakeholder:
Please take a short survey regarding City of Berkeley's proposals to implement new parking rates and time limits for on-street parking in Downtown Berkeley. The changes are part of goBerkeley, a 24-month pilot program that aims to reduce congestion, improve parking options, and promote alternatives to driving in the Downtown Berkeley, Southside, and Elmwood neighborhoods.
To increase on-street parking availability the following changes are being considered:
- Extending time of meters operations from 6pm to 8pm in the Premium Area
- Option to increase parking rates to $2.25 per hour in the Premium Area with decreases to $1.25 per hour in other areas, OR option to escalate rate for 2nd and 3rd hours in the Premium Area
- Increasing meter time limits to at least two hours of parking throughout Downtown, with option of three or four hours in the outer areas
Please review goBerkeley program materials by clicking here, (the same materials presented by city staff at the June 3rd workshop at the Downtown public library), and then take the survey.
If your time is limited you can go straight to survey, which provides summary information as part of each question. Please click here to take short survey.
Thanks for your time and consideration. Please also do not hesitate to email or call me if you have any additional questions or comments.
