Dear Downtown Berkeley Stakeholder:
Please join your fellow community members to provide feedback to the goBerkeley pilot program on options for improving parking conditions in your neighborhood.
goBerkeley staff will present the results of the City's initial round of data collection on parking issues and options for changes to parking rates and time limits to address those issues. To increase on-street parking availability the following changes are being considered:
- Increasing parking meters hours from 6pm to 8pm in Downtown area
- Increasing parking rates to $2.25 per hour in the core Downtown area with decreases to $1.25 per hour in other areas, OR escalated pricing for 2nd and 3rd hours
- At least two hours of parking throughout Downtown, with option of three or four ours in the outer areas.
goBerkeley staff will also be available to continue enrollment of eligible businesses and employees in the goBerkeley Employee Benefits program, which includes distribution of up to 1,000 free one-year AC Transit passes and discounted one-year City Carshare memberships.
The Downtown Berkeley Open House will be held on Monday, June 3rd from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Community Room of the Central Branch of the Berkeley Public Library at 2090 Kittredge Street. The attached flyer includes information about the Open House.
goBerkeley is a 24-month pilot program that aims to reduce congestion, improve parking options, and promote alternatives to driving in the Downtown Berkeley, Southside, and Elmwood neighborhoods.
