From Fr. Marty Solma

Dear Brothers:

Gratitude for our missionaries

Blessed Chaminade said, "you are all missionaries." That, of course, applies to all of us.

And I think it has special reference to our brothers who serve outside of Province boundaries.

I'd like to express special gratitude to the men ministering in our developing units. They include:

Bro. Steve Grazulis - Zambia, although currently in India

Fr. Quentin Hakenewerth - Mexico

Fr. Gerry Hammel - Zambia

Bro. Delmar Jorn - India

Bro. Larry McBride - India

Bro. Tom Oldenski - India

Fr. John Thompson - Mexico

Bro. Mark Ormond (Province of Meribah) - India

Bro. Dennis Schmitz - Provincial liaison to India

I created a brief summary of these brothers' work. Please read it here. You may also wish to read a recent letter from Bro. Steve Grazulis.

A legacy of creativity

On Tuesday, another of our artists died. Bro. Cletus Behlmann left a great legacy of creativity and beauty. We will miss him.

We are grateful for his life and vocation, and commend him now to the Lord's love and mercy.

More mercy, less hate

During the past 10 days, we have witnessed terrible violence in this country. It has exposed painful divisions and raised, again, latent issues of disparity and injustice.

We need to pray for all involved -- the victims and those who perpetrate violent actions. We need more respect and fewer weapons. We need more mercy and less hate.

Let us pray especially for the victims in Baton Rouge, St. Paul and Dallas. And in addition to our prayers, let us each find ways to promote peace and better understanding in our local communities.
