Dear Brothers:

India planning

As I write this, I'm sitting in the airport in Chicago, waiting for Dennis Schmitz to arrive. We have a flight this evening to London, then to Bangalore, India, tomorrow (Tuesday).

Temperatures in western India hit 130 F (51 C) Sunday. It's the warmest ever recorded in India. This should be interesting!

Dennis and I will spend the next week with the Strategic Planning Committee, working on plans for community and ministry development over the next five years. We are very grateful for your prayers for us.

From Bro. Tom Giardino

Dear Brothers:

Carol Ramey to retire as NACMS director

After 28 years of committed and competent service, Carol Ramey has decided to retire as director of the North American Center of Marianist Studies (NACMS), effective Oct. 1.

Carol has been NACMS director since 1993 and has moved Marianist publications, programing and research to new levels of excellence. Most recently, she oversaw the planning of the new Chaminade Center which now houses the many activities of NACMS.

In 1988, Carol began as editor of the Marianist Resources Commission, which was later incorporated into NACMS. Over the years, Carol has helped guide Province retreats and has served in searches for Province staff. She has provided NACMS programing for SM, FMI and MLC communities, as well as for educational institutions and parishes. She has helped form directors of Marianist formation centers in Asia, Latin America, and Eastern and Western Africa. Carol has been a member of the Visitation State Marianist Lay Community since her college days at UD.

We are deeply grateful for her service and advancement of Mary's mission; we offer her our prayers and best wishes for this next stage of her life.

We'll begin a search for a new director in June.

Catholic Charities advocacy and updates

Giving a voice to the voiceless has been a key part of Catholic Charities' mission from the start. The organization believes that the stories of those most affected by poverty can become the tools to help eradicate it. Read more on Catholic Charities' Advocacy & Policy website

Several brothers have inquired recently about receiving current information on issues coming out of Washington, D.C.
