From Fr. Marty Solma

Dear Brothers,

Provincial Chapter

This week, the Provincial Chapter's 14 elected delegates, two unit superiors and the members of the Provincial Council will gather at the Marianist Retreat and Conference Center in Eureka, Missouri, for the 25th session of the Provincial Chapter. We have a full agenda. Thanks to the Area Coordinators for organizing the pre-Chapter meetings and for providing your reports. These will be reviewed at the beginning of our meeting.

We greatly appreciate your prayerful support during the coming days. Thanks to Bro. Joe Kamis and the preparatory commission for their very fine work. Thanks to the brothers at the Marianist Residence in San Antonio for their "prayer blast" in the days leading up to our meeting.

Following the Chapter meeting, the Provincial Council will hold its own meetings at the West Pine Office.

Developing Units

Fr. Ignatius Arulappen has been approved to begin doctoral studies at the International Marian Research Institute at the University of Dayton. The District of India wants one of its members to become a specialist in Marian and Marianist studies as requested by recent General Chapters. Fr. Iggie will arrive in Dayton for the August term.

Most recently, Iggie served as the director of the UD program in Deepahalli. With the approval of UD, that position will now be filled by Bro. Tom Oldenski, who has agreed to serve the Society and the District of India in this important capacity. Thanks, Tom!

We are beginning a strategic planning process with the District of India. Bro. Dennis Schmitz, Province liaison with the District, and I will meet with the eight-member strategic planning committee in late May to plan for individual, community and District Chapter involvement. Bro. Bernie Ploeger will join us for another meeting with the committee after Christmas to move the entire process forward. Our hope is to have a finished document ready for the 2017 District Chapter. Bernie served in this same capacity last December in Eastern Africa with positive results. Thanks to both Dennis and Bernie for their important contributions.

With the assistance of Fr. John Thompson, the members of the Sector of Mexico have begun a six-month formation program in view of a future educational ministry in Quertaro, Mexico. John reports that the first weekend program was positive for all who participated.

Bro. Godfrey Ssenyomo from the Region of Eastern Africa is participating in the Ministry to Ministers program at the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio. Godfrey is celebrating his 25th jubilee this year and will be visiting in Dayton and St. Louis at the end of his program in late May.

Lent

We are nearing the middle of Lent, a time for prayer, penance and conversion of heart. May this be a graced time for us as a Province. Let's continue to pray for one another.

Fraternally,

From Bro. Ron Overman

Dear Brothers:

Office of JPIC

A national committee of vowed and lay Marianists has been reviewing Marianist PULSE applications.

The committee recently conducted interviews with selected applicants from across the country. We will soon be extending invitations to participate in the inaugural Dayton-based PULSE community to between four and six young adults. Thank you for your prayers and support of this new initiative.

Fraternally,
