From Fr. Marty Solma

Dear Brothers:

Congratulations to Fr. John Thompson, one of three recipients of the "Founders Award" at Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory in Hollywood, Florida, on Jan. 23. Congratulations, John!

Saint Louis School

This year, Saint Louis School in Honolulu will celebrate 170 years of educating young men. I think you'll enjoy a music video - composed, arranged and directed by Dr. Glenn Medeiros, SLS president - which will be shown to students, faculty and staff and released to the press today. The video features the singing talents of SLS students and alumni.

Fraternally,

From the Office of Development

Dear Brothers:

I want to thank and recognize Bro. Tom Redmond and the Cupertino brothers for their help with a large donation received for the "Join Her Mission" campaign for care of our elderly brothers.

Bro. Tom and the brothers opened up their community to a local family who came for Mass and celebrations. When a family member fell ill and became housebound, they visited them at their home and ministered to them through the end of life. The brothers at Cupertino made a tremendous impact on this family and they wanted to honor the Marianists and their service.

From Bro. Joe Kamis

Dear Brothers:

The Provincial Council has appointed Bro. Dave Quigley director of the Maui Marianist Community, effective immediately. Bro. Dave's first term is for two and a half years.

The Provincial Council thanks Fr. Roland Bundawho has been director and more recently, coordinator of the community for the past six months. We thank Roland for his years of service and Bro. Dave for his openness to the ministry of leadership and service to his community.

Fraternally,

From Fr. Bill Meyer

My Dear Brothers:

Happy Chaminade Day!

As we celebrate Chaminade Day 2016 and prepare to enter our Marianist Jubilee Year, I encourage you to read the new document on the "Identity and Mission of the Religious Brother in the Church." This beautifully written document offers many "Marianist parallels" and will appeal to your Marianist sensibilities.

Transition

On Jan. 5, 2016, Fr. Terry Weik was incardinated as a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

We wish Terry well as he begins this new chapter in his life, thank him for his years of life and service among us, and promise him our prayers.

With fraternal affection,

From Bro. Tom Giardino

Dear Brothers:

Understanding Sponsorship

Our annual celebration of Chaminade Day is a festival of memory and hope. Because of his response to the Holy Spirit, we are together as a Province. We remember, as a Society, our two centuries of living, safeguarding and developing the Marianist charism in response to the signs of the times as he did.

This memory stimulates hope that the Marianist faith-filled imagination is active today through our individual and communal "yes" embodied in our vow of stability.

We have created a video in which I share reflections on Sponsorship through the lens of our vow of stability. I hope you will view it individually and also as a community as a stimulus for conversation. I am interested in your comments and questions on this Province initiative.

In response to requests from Province brothers, in early February each community will receive a packet of materials which includes articles about Sponsorship from Notes from the Provincial Council and a circular from me expanding on the reflections in the video. A DVD of the video also will be included.

May all of us receive a "double portion" of Chaminade's spirit as we celebrate in memory and hope.

Fraternally,
