Directors Meeting
Dayton

Oct. 16 - 18

From Fr. Marty Solma

Dear Brothers,

Many thanks to all who worked to make the Directors Meeting and the ordination of Fr. Bob Jones such wonderful experiences. I think everyone was touched by the simplicity and prayerfulness of the ordination and by the fraternal spirit during the meetings.

Special thanks to Bro. Joe Kamis for organizing the Directors Meeting. Very special thanks to Fr. Bill Meyer, Fr. Chris Wittmann and the entire novitiate community for the hospitality and great support. Fr. Bob will spend this pastoral year at the Chaminade community in St. Louis under the mentorship of Fr. Oscar Vasquez.

Fr. Simon Choi will soon leave the Province. We are grateful for the time he has spent with us. He has received permission from his regional superior, Fr. Francis Chang, to spend the next two years at the Chaminade Mission in Karonga, Malawi, dependent upon obtaining the visas and work permits. Good luck, Fr. Simon!

News from Fr. John Thompson is encouraging. He and
Fr. Raymundo (sector coordinator) attended the CLAMAR meeting in Bogota, Colombia, as invited guests. John said he was able to hold his own in Spanish during discussions and sharing. John continues with language study and will be working with the Mexican brothers to develop an educational mission project in Quertaro.

Please continue to pray for the General Administration who will conclude its visit to the District of India on Oct. 15. Let us also pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit during the Synod on the Family and for eternal peace and joy for Bro. Chas Lohrenz.

Fraternally,

Dear Brothers:

A reminder to brothers who supervise employees: Be familiar with the Province policies found in the Employee Handbook, which is on the Marianist PORTAL under "Documents." You are not free to change a policy without first discussing it with our director of human resources, Mary Ellen Garcia.

If you have questions regarding our policies, please call her at 314.533.1207 or e-mail her. She is there to serve and protect you, our employees and the Province.

 Fraternally,

From Fr. Bill Meyer

Also, check out sliconnect's "Connections," an excellent online newsletter. I would recommend the article, "Communication habits that work." From the article:

*Explore current research on the value of candor.
*Learn how different communication styles support healthy relationships.
*Identify strategies for communicating effectively in a ministry setting.

With fraternal affection,
