From Fr. Marty Solma

Dear Brothers:

On May 1, a very special event will take place at the Marianist novitiate in Ranchi, India.

The following brothers will be professing vows for the first time:

Anil Dungdung
Augustine Say
Pulkit Minj
Rosan Kiro
Suman Horo
Dillip Kumar Majhi

Congratulations and fraternal best wishes to these newly professed brothers. Please keep them in your prayers on their first profession day. Read about the new brothers.

May 1 will also see the installation of Fr. Chinnaiah Polishety as novice director and Bro. Marianus Bilung as his assistant. These brothers have been well prepared for this very important ministry of formation in the District of India. Fr. David Fleming will end his two-year commitment at the novitiate with this profession. We are deeply grateful to Dave for his generous service and faithful witness.

Here is a letter I have written to the newly professed, which will be read at the end of the profession ceremony. Please join me in praying for their heartfelt commitment and perseverance.

Fraternally,

From Bro. Joe Kamis

Dear Brothers:

With Bro. Tom Giardino taking on the role of Assistant for Education in St. Louis, the Council has asked Bro. Dan Klco to be head of the Marianist International Program of Studies.

Dan will be moving to the Chambers Street Community from the Stonemill/Kiefaber Community in early July. We thank Dan for taking on this important ministry in addition to his other duties at the university.

Fr. James Mueller, who is on a sabbatical at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, will be returning to the United States and will be taking up residence in August at Alumni Hall Community in Dayton. He will have ministry at Chaminade Julienne High School. We welcome Jim back and wish him well in his new ministry at CJ.

Fraternally,

From the Office of JPIC

Dear Brothers,

We pray in a special way for all those in Nepal and the surrounding areas affected by the earthquake.

We pray also for the city of Baltimore, our Marianist Community there, and the Murphy Initiative. The Murphy Initiative, of which we're active members, is a non-profit organization of 14 religious communities working collaboratively for social justice in Baltimore and beyond. Read Baltimore Archbishop William E. Lori's call for peace and prayer.

The Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers are hosting a Mission Immersion Retreat in San Francisco. This program is for teachers, DREs, catechists, deacons and others who minister in the Church and wish to increase their awareness of their baptismal call to mission. More information can be found here. Thanks to Bro. David Betz, who brought this opportunity to my attention.

In justice and peace,

Brian Reavey
