Jubilee Celebration
St. Louis

April 25

From Fr. Marty Solma

Dear Brothers:

Common Bond, an association of former and current Marianists, is hosting a reunion in Dayton from July 24-26. This is an easy way to stay in touch with men who have shared life and faith with us. If you've never attended a Common Bond reunion, you'll find it encouraging and enjoyable.

Note: Common Bond member Herb Verbesey asks that for security reasons, ONLY SMs should use the site. When you go to the site, you'll be asked for your first profession year and last name. The reunion tab at the top will give you information and registration details.

Ordination

Bro. Josephraj Rymond from the District of India will be ordained a deacon in Rome on May 2 in a ceremony at Via Latina 22. Please remember Joseph in your prayers, as well as our Indian brothers as they prepare for their annual retreats.

Travels

Fr. John Thompson and I will visit Quertaro, Mexico, from May 8-11. John will meet the Mexican Marianists before he moves to the District this summer to improve his Spanish and to help the brothers plan an educational ministry. Two of the Mexican brothers will be outside the District for the coming year, one in Colombia and one in Spain. Both will be engaged in educational ministries in preparation and training for their leadership in the new educational project in Mexico.

St. Aloysius-St. Agatha parish, Cleveland

Bishop Richard Lennon of the Diocese of Cleveland has announced the appointment of Fr. Mark Olson as the new pastor of St. Aloysius-St. Agatha parish, effective July 1. Fr. Mark recently completed his doctoral studies at Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis and has extensive pastoral and educational experience.

Please remember two important dates for St. Al's: June 21 for the official celebration of the end of Marianist service at St. Al's; and Sept. 13 for Mass at St. John's Cathedral with Bishop Lennon to mark the end of Marianist service in the Diocese of Cleveland.

Let's pray for our brothers who are sick, and let's pray for one another during this Easter season.

Fraternally,

From Bro. Joe Kamis

Province Archives

We are excited to announce that Fr. Marty Solma and Dr. Tom Mengler, president of St Mary's University, signed a lease agreement on April 9 to use a campus building at Saint Mary's as the permanent repository of the National Archives of the Marianist Province of the United States. The 8,000-square-foot building is located at the Culebra entrance to the university and was formerly used by the City of San Antonio for adult education. In a separate lease agreement, the Province and university agreed to the continued use of space in Treadaway Hall where St. Louis Province materials have been archived since 1974. The Culebra building will be available for use in early 2016.

Mary Kenney, Province archivist, is excited about the new space. "We are establishing a public, living archive for the entire Marianist Family. This will be a place of memory, honoring the Marianist brothers and priests who have built the physical, educational and spiritual architecture in the United States since 1849. It also will be a forum for research and interchange, supporting the Catholic intellectual tradition."

Bro. Earl Leistikow, Mary Kenney, Bro. Brian Zampier, and volunteer Bro. Louis Ernst

Materials from the Pacific Province archives were moved to San Antonio in early April. Materials from Dayton and from Treadaway Hall will be moved to the new space over the next 8 months.

Mary and Bros. Earl Leistikow and Brian Zampier are on the archives staff in San Antonio. Bro. John Habjan remains on the archives staff in Dayton.

Chaminade Center

Preparation for construction of the Chaminade Center at Mount Saint John will begin in the next two weeks, with completion scheduled for January 2016. The Chaminade Center will be the new home of the North American Center for Marianist Studies and will include a "Marianist Family Room" for meetings.

The center, which will be about 12,000 square feet, will be located between Meyer Hall and the Marianist Mission. View a sitemap of Mount Saint John. The parking lot in front of Queen of Apostles Chapel will be closed to store construction materials.

Position openings

Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati has begun a search for a new president. Saint Louis School in Honolulu has an opening for a campus minister. Please send these job postings to people who may be qualified. And please keep these schools in your prayers as they fill these positions.
