From Fr. Marty Solma

Dear Brothers:

New Provincial Council

On March 18, the superior general ratified the membership of the new Provincial Council, effective July 1, 2015. I am grateful to these brothers who bring competence and willingness to serve the mission of the Province.

Religious Life - Fr. William Meyer
Education - Bro. Thomas Giardino
Temporalities - Bro. Ronald Overman
Councilor - Bro. Dennis Bautista
Councilor - Bro. Charles Johnson
Councilor - Fr. John Thompson

Fr. Bill Meyer, Bro. Tom Giardino, Bro. Ron Overman

Bro. Dennis Bautista, Bro. Charles Johnson, Fr. John Thompson

Bro. Dennis Schmitz, although not a member of the Council, has accepted the responsibility to be the Provincial visitor to the District of India, visiting there for several extended periods of time each year. We are grateful for his willingness to provide this service of mentorship to the District of India. Fr. John Thompson has accepted responsibility for the Sector of Mexico and will move to Puebla to improve his language skills. He will then move to Quertaro to assist in the establishment of an educational project with the Mexican Marianists.

Fr. Manolo, in approving the Council, indicated his desire for a balanced Council in terms of mixed composition, but approved this proposed membership as an exception to article 7.96 of the Rule of Life. He suggested the Provincial Chapter review the Province Directory regarding the size of the Provincial Council. This recommendation was voiced at the recent Provincial Chapter, and the current Provincial Council had already considered the same for the Council configuration in 2018. A formal proposal concerning this will be presented to the Provincial Chapter in the next year or two.

Joe and I are grateful for the gifts these brothers will bring to the Provincial Council, and for their willingness to serve the Province in this important ministry.

Fraternally,

From Bro. Joe Kamis

Dear Brothers:

An announcement was made at all Masses yesterday at St. Joseph Catholic Community in Eldersburg, Md., that Fr. Paul Reich, associate pastor, will move in mid-June to the Marianist Care Center at Siena Woods in Dayton. Read the announcement from St. Joseph.

Fr. Paul will transition from active parish ministry to a ministry of prayer for the Province and the Church. The Province extends a big thanks to Fr. Paul for his years of service to the St. Joseph Community and the wider Church, and wishes him well in this transition.

Fraternally,
