Dear Brothers:

Marianist Mission

This Saturday, Sept. 27, the renovated Marianist Center at Mount Saint John will be rededicated and blessed as the new home of the Marianist Mission. Bro. Joe Kamis and I will be there, together with Fr. Andr Ftis and Bro. Mike McAward. There will be a celebration of the Eucharist at Queen of Apostles chapel, followed by a blessing of the facility and a reception.

New home of the Marianist Mission at Mount Saint John in Dayton. The building was originally the scholasticate for the Cincinnati Province. The larger portion of the building was torn down around 1990 and renovated for the offices of the Province of Cincinnati. NACMS has been using it since 2002. Photo courtesy Dohn Roush.

Many thanks to Allison Hewitt, Linda Hayes and their team for bringing this project to completion. Special thanks to Bro. Jack Somerville for overseeing the renovations.

This facility will be a suitable home for this important Province development function for many years. The former Marianist Mission building on Franklin Street, which housed the Mission for decades, has been cleared and cleaned, and we are in discussions with interested parties for its future use.

Howard Lohrey

At the conclusion of the all-school Mass at Archbishop Moeller High school on Sept. 23, Howard Lohrey was recognized for his many years of service to the Moeller family. Howard was present for the Mass and recognition. View it here.

From the Office of Temporalities

This report is from Brian Reavey

Dear Brothers:

On behalf of the Provincial Council, I would like to thank Bros. Jim Fitz and Steve O'Neil for their faithful service to the Justice, Peace & Integrity of Creation (JPIC) Advisory Committee. They have fulfilled their term of service, and we cannot thank them enough for advancing justice throughout the Province. I am pleased to welcome Bro. Mitch Schweickart to the Advisory Committee; he was recently appointed by the Provincial Council and his term starts immediately. The JPIC Advisory Committee will meet in January in Dayton, with Bro. Charlie Johnson as the Provincial Council representative.

I am also happy to announce that effective Jan. 16, 2015, Bro. Frank O'Donnell will be the chair of the Marianist Social Justice Collaborative (MSJC) Steering Committee. This will start his second term of three years, and I remain a committee member by right of the JPIC office. Until the appointment of an assistant for temporalities, I also will serve on MSJC's Coordinating Committee as the Provincial Council liaison.

"Respect Life Month" celebrations begin next week. As we continue to advance justice and promote the dignity of all life (born and unborn), we thank Fr. John Putka for recommending the following resources:
