From Bro. Joe Kamis

Bro. Joe Kamis
Dear Brothers:

The Provincial Council and members of the Province extend their heartfelt thanks to Sue McKamely, who will retire at the end of the month. She has served as administrative assistant for the past nine years to the assistant provincial, assistant for temporalities and others.

Sue's dedication to her ministry and her professionalism at the West Pine office has benefited the Province in many ways. She will be missed, but we know her children and grandchildren will be happier because Sue will be with them more. We wish her the best and thank her for her service these past years.

From Fr. Paul Marshall

Dear Brothers:

As we continue the journey of Lent, Pope Francis reminds us of our call to prayer, fasting and almsgiving: "Lent is a time to change direction, to respond to the reality of evil and poverty" Pope Francis on Twitter (www.ThePopeTweets.com)

The pope and President Obama met last Thursday. According to Vatican Radio, they
discussed "current international themes" and expressed the hope that "in areas of conflict there would be respect for humanitarian and international law and a negotiated solution between the parties involved." Pope Francis and President Obama also discussed "questions of particular relevance for the Church in that country, such as the exercise of the rights to religious freedom, life and conscientious objection, as well as the issue of immigration reform." For more information, including an audio link to the Vatican's Report, click here.

Cardinals and bishops from across the country invite us to see the newly released movie, Cesar Chavez. The film's promotional materials summarize Chavez's commitment to justice, peace, and integrity of creation: "Always present with Cesar Chavez was Our Lady of Guadalupe, representing faith, hope and leadership for Chavez. Cesar Chavez is a film worth watching as a family, to inspire the power of social justice through a man's faith and belief of nonviolence."

Let the Spirit flourish and grow;

So that we will never tire of the struggle.

Let us remember those who have died for justice;

For they have given us life.

Help us love even those who hate us;

so we can change the world.  Csar E. Chvez
