Dear Brothers:
INDIA
The District of India has requested the presence of Fr. David Fleming to assist with novitiate formation while an Indian brother is being prepared for this position. Fr. Dave has accepted and will serve as novice director for the District of India for the next two years. Fr. Manuel Cortes and his council have ratified the appointment.
We are grateful for Fr. Dave's services in the Association of Marianist Universities (AMU) and wish him the best as he embarks upon this important mission, which will begin in August.
Fr. Jack McGrath will return to the District of India on May 21. I am grateful to Jack for his work and for his willingness to continue serving the mission of the Province. Fr. Kip Stander returned to the District of India on April 16.
DAYTON
Bro. Gobi Torres Nazario from the District of Mexico will arrive in Dayton on May 3 and will become a member of the Stonemill-Kiefaber community for the next year. Gobi will take the ESL program at the university and will follow additional formational courses. Welcome, Bro. Gobi! To mark the official transition at the Chambers Street community this summer, members of the Provincial Council and the Dayton-area directors will celebrate the Eucharist and have dinner with the remaining members of that community on May 14. Fr. Chris Conlon will be moving to the Cupertino Marianist community; Bro. Gary Marcinowski and Bro. Phil Aaron will become members of the Alumni Hall and Sawmill communities respectively. We are grateful to these brothers for their help in this transition. Thanks also to Bro. Tom Giardino and the Trinity Avenue community for the work involved in making this shift. The Trinity Avenue house is being sold back to the University of Dayton.
TRAVELS
A number of brothers serving abroad will come to the Province during the summer for their regular holidays. Bros. Frank and Carmine Annunziata, Bro. Steve Grazulis, and Bro. Tim Phillips will spend time in the Province. We welcome them and wish them a relaxing time with their families and members of the Province.
I will spend the next five weeks giving retreats in Eastern Africa and India. I would be grateful for your prayers for these retreats, and for the brothers attending them. Bro. Joe Kamis will attend to the affairs of the Province until I return on June 8.
