TACCI had a busy month in November, planning the events and the program for the year 2012. As the holidays are approaching, we are working on the year-end letters and the holiday cards for our members, thanks to whom we are getting stronger and better at what we do. This month, we also held various meetings with the chamber presidents and businessmen from Turkey to evaluate the business environment in the U.S. for the entry of new international firms. You can read more about these events and our upcoming events in our newsletter.

Our November Events
 
SARAR Wall Street Grand Opening on November 13th, 2012
 

The worldwide manufacturer of major global fashion labels  and men's clothing retailer, Sarar has opened its 11th store in the US, choosing 

Wall Street as its strategic location.    

 

 

The grand opening took place on November 13th and it was attended by business people from the American and Turkish community as well as many fashion lovers. TACCI Vice Presidents; Ms. Sevil Ozisik and Mr. John Driscoll, TACCI Board Members; Mr. Burak Alpaslan and Mr. Mehmet Bilici and Turkish Commercial Attache Serhan Kara were present at the event on the behalf of TACCI Board of Directors. 

  

 

The event commenced with a ribbon cutting ritual in the presence of Sarar President Cemalettin Sarar and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and was followed by a cocktail reception. As guests noshed on passed hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, they admired the fine menswear by the Turkish brand and received an exclusive, one-day deal of 40 percent off and the chance to win a custom Sarar suit.

  

TUGIAD Meeting  on November 15th, 2012

 

On November 15th, 2012, TACCI Board of Directors held a meeting with the Young Businessmen Association of Turkey Delegation (TUGIAD), led by Chairman Ali Yucelen  in the scope of their visit to the United States of America (Washington, DC and New York) between 11-17 th ,November 2012.

 

TACCI President Mr. Celal Secilmis gave the first speech of the meeting and he talked about the history of TACCI and its misson. Specifically,  Mr. Secilmis stated that TACCI is an effective business arena which creates opportunities and complements the economic activities carried out by the Turkish government. Secilmis also updated the delegation about the latest events and services of TACCI, and then the other board members introduced themselves and their businesses.

 

 

 

TUGIAD Chairman Ali Yucelen discussed the background and activities of TUGIAD and provided a description of what TUGIAD is presently involved in and what its future plans are. He also expressed their enthusiasm about TUGIAD's new representative office in New York. Along the meeting the improving economy of Turkey, and the Entrepreneurship Bill proposed by TUGIAD to attract angel investors were the main subjects to be addressed. Secilmis offered to protocol signing between two organizations noting that TACCI's and TUGIAD's aims and objectives are almost overlapping.

 


 

On November 19th 2012, TACCI received a delegation representing Eskisehir Chamber of Commerce, who were in the US for ABX Architecture Boston as well. The chamber representatives had the chance to discuss the current trade relations between Eskisehir region of Turkey and the US. The meeting focused on various issues including logistics, customs, import-export regulations, business law in order to encourage business people from Bursa to extend their business to the U.S. markets.

 

 

TACCI's President Celal Secilmis briefed the delegation on TACCI's work and he also suggested ways in which possible collaboration can be achieved. After his speech, TACCI Vice President Sevil Ozisik gave an informative and valuable presentation to the attendees on the legal framework to conduct a business in the U.S.

 

In her speech, TACCI General Member Pinar Guvenc, from New York Grant Company, informed our guests about the potential economic incentives for businesses in US.  Moreover, throughout her presentation, she emphasized the importance of an early action for applying those grants. 

 

At the end of the meeting, both parts expressed their pleasure about the meeting and to express their pleasure Eskisehir Chamber of Commerce presented their gifts to TACCI President Mr. Celal Secilmis.

Speaking at the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) City Tourism Global Summit, TOBB President and UNWTO Private Sector Board Chairman M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, emphasizing that the tourism sector in Turkey is a worldwide success, said, "We, the public administration and the private sector, have focused on 2023 and we plan to be in the top 5 for tourism".
